Colonel Katarina Strbac, PhD, head of the Strategic analysis and security integrations department and Lieutenant Colonel Sava Savic, M.Sc., attended the seminar entitled “Civil-military Relations in the EU Countries in the Context of Enlargement” as a part of the Serbian delegation. The seminar was organized on April 2-3, 2009 in Brussels. Representatives from other South-East European countries - candidates for membership (Turkey, Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia), also participated. Mr. Morten Olsen from the Administration department of the European Commission, Enlargement opened the seminar. The Center for European Security Studies from Netherlands managed this seminar. The seminar was separated into two conferences entitled “Management of the Armed Forces by Civilians” and “The Role of the National Parliament in the Oversight of the Security and Defense Sector”. Colonel Katarina Strbac, PhD, presented the paper “Civil-military Relations in the Republic of Serbia”.
