Security and Defence Aspects of the Republic of Serbia’s Accession to the European Union




Scientific research project: „Security and Defence Aspects of the Republic of Serbia’s Accession to the European Union“ in scientific manner considering, so far almost unexplored in our literature, recent trends of security relations within the European Union, and the correlation of this organization with continental and global surroundings. Cause-and-effect relationships were studied in the coordinate system of transatlantic relations between the US-EU as well as NATO-EU relations. When it comes to strategic foreign policy and security orientation of the Republic of Serbia, in this way formed a scientific and theoretical knowledge are indispensable starting points for a better understanding of the process in the "real reality" of current world security after the redefinition of the security concept.  We bearing in mind, first of all, fact that the process of Serbia's accession to the European Union, which has so far the most widely supported strategic national goal. An insight in this kind of research project fills gaps which are unacceptable if we insist on comprehensive holistic view of our foreign and security policy. This is especially important concerning the issue of Kosovo and Metohija in contest of the process of Serbia's EU accession. Within the project, it was realized an international conference "Integration and the contribution of the South East Europe common security and defense policy of the European Union" at the Guard House in Topcider on 10 and 11 May 2012. The conference was organized with the financial support of the EC TAIEX, and in cooperation with RACVIAC.
