The participation of the Director of the Strategic Research Institute in the meeting of the Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Dikovic with Rana Rahal, chief officer for gender equality in the UN mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL)
For the fourth time, Peacekeeping Operations Center implemented the course “Gender in multinational operations“ from 30 March to 03 April. On that occasion, Head of the General Staff of Serbia General Ljubisa Diković meet with Rana Rahal, chief officer for gender equality in the UN mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and Milos Strugar, former Deputy Head of the mission. The meeting was attended by Deputy Commander of Joint Operations Command, General Slavoljub Janicijević, Director of the Strategic Research Institute and Gender Advisor to the Defence Minister, Jovanka Šaranović PhD and Acting Chief of the Center for Peacekeeping Operations, Colonel Nikola Dejanović.
The meeting it was discussed about the importance of protecting the civilian population in crisis regions, gender issues in the United Nations system, the implementation of Resolution 1325 in the Serbian Army contingents in multinational operations, as well as experiences from the UN mission in Lebanon. Ms. Rahal and Mr. Strugar were special guests and lecturers on the course “Gender in multinational operations“ and the lectures were also given by Director of the Strategic Research Institute, Jovanka Šaranović PhD on “Gender and Security Sector Reform“, as well as a researcher Tatjana Višacki , with the theme “Why is gender important and why training?“.
