Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia visit the Ministry of Defence
The representatives of the National Assembly visited the Strategic Research Institute within the program of visits to the national security institutions organized by the Belgrade Fund for Political Excellence and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women). The topic of this visit were the strategic development directions of the defence system reform with emphasis on the gender perspective. The presentation was opened by the State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, prof. Dr. Tanja Miščević, who introduced the guests to the work and structure of the Ministry, and Defence Policy Sector in particular. The Director of the Strategic Research Institute, Dr. Jovanka Šaranović, presented the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1325 within the defence system of the Republic of Serbia. After that, the representative of the Peacekeeping Operations Center of the Joint Operations Command GS SAF, Major Goran Topalovic, presented the activities of the Center and made specific remarks on gender aspects of the engagement in the peacekeeping operations.
