SRI Researchers Attended the Seminar “NATO: A Strategic and Operational Perspective”
Colonel Dragan Gostovic, PhD, Captain Dalibor Denda, M.Sc. and Mrs. Tanja Ristic, M.Sc. attended the seminar “NATO: A Strategic and Operational Perspective”. The seminar was held at the “Zira” hotel in Belgrade on June 22-23, 2009. The seminar was organized by the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies and the Embassy of the USA in Belgrade. Lecturers were Prof. Dr. John Kriendler and Dr. Dragan Lozancic from the George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies, Stefan Elgersma, an official from NATO’s International Staff and Jan Vlkovský from the Czech Embassy in Belgrade. Participants were representatives from the SRI, Serbian Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, as well as observers from the Democratic Party, Belgrade Fund for Political Excellency, Atlantic Council from Serbia and Euro-Atlantic Initiative. The following subjects were discussed during the seminar: decision making within NATO, NATO enlargement, command and personnel structure, defense planning, resource management, NATO Response Force (NRF), Euro-Atlantic Partnership, NATO-Russia relations, relations between NATO and other international organizations, NATO operations and the role of NATO in the West Balkan area.
