Security challenges of the Western Balkan countries in the European security paradigm (Оngoing)
The project "Security Challenges of the Countries of the Western Balkans in the European Security Paradigm" is a multidisciplinary scientific research project in the field of social sciences that is implemented in the Department of Security Studies. It was launched to observe and identify the processes, actors, subjects, forms and contents that create challenges of importance for the security of the Western Balkan region and the Republic of Serbia as its central part. The subject of the research will be the following questions: еxtremism, radicalization and the migrant crisis as security challenges of the countries of the Western Balkans; the factor of economy and soft power in balancing the security challenges of the countries of the Western Balkans; energy (in)security as a security challenge for the region and the European Union; the impact of Middle Eastern countries and Turkey on European and regional security; security challenges in the post-Soviet space and implications for European and regional security; common foreign and security policy of the European Union in new geopolitical circumstances; security challenges from the point of view of international politics; challenges of the intelligence and security systems of the countries of the Western Balkans. Consideration of the above-mentioned issues will enable obtaining information that can serve to improve the security and defence system of the Republic of Serbia, but also to strengthen regional security in the area of the Western Balkans.
