Monograph "Future and Security – Trends of Importance for the Security of the Republic of Serbia", Media Center Odbrana, Belgrade, 2025.

The scientific monograph “Future and Security” represents one of the most important outcomes of the project “Projection of Trends Relevant to the Security of the Republic of Serbia by 2030.” It contains the consolidated results of the research team from the Institute for Strategic Research of the University of Defence in Belgrade, focused on analyzing trends significant to the security of the Republic of Serbia.

Generally speaking, the thematic scope is very broad, and the research endeavor exceeds the capacities of the research team. Therefore, the monograph summarizes only certain key topics which, in our assessment, will define the future state of security in the Republic of Serbia. The monograph comprises six authorial chapters, which are thematically correlated and follow a unified methodological framework.

The chapters forming this cohesive monographic whole are as follows:
- “Geopolitical Trends Threatening the Security of the Republic of Serbia” by Stanislav Stojanović;
- “Regional Geopolitical Trends and Their Impact on the Security of the Republic of Serbia” by Igor Barišić;
- “The Importance of Military Power in the Policy of Challengers After the Cold War” by Igor Pejić;
- “The Defensive Function of the State Under the Conditions of a Changed Nature of War” by Milinko Vračar;
- “Trends in Contemporary Political Violence: From the Global to the Regional and National” by Milovan Subotić; and
- “Quo Vadis Serbia? – Projection of Trends Relevant to National Security, Soft Power, and Strategic Communication of the Republic of Serbia” by Miroslav Mitrović.

Despite the effort invested and the sincere intent of all authors, due to its scope, this monograph could not cover all possible aspects of the future security landscape of the Republic of Serbia. Nevertheless, we hope that its content, analyses, and conclusions will serve future researchers in developing further critical and analytical approaches, and that it will inspire broader and more comprehensive inquiries into indicators of future trends relevant to the security of the Republic of Serbia.
